This month’s selection includes an investigation of simvastatin plus ezetimibe in aortic stenosis that not only failed to demonstrate any notable benefit, but surprisingly was found to be associated with an increased incidence of cancer. We also get a view of how cause-specific deaths can be quite variable among regions in NZ, and a small Russian study has reported data indicating that the old antihistamine dimebolin may be poised to make a comeback for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
