New Zealand Medical Association

nzmaThe New Zealand Medical Association is the country's foremost pan-professional medical organisation. We are the largest medical organisation in New Zealand, and our members come from all disciplines within the medical profession, and include specialists, general practitioners, doctors-in-training and medical students.

The NZMA provides leadership of the medical profession, and promotes professional unity and values; and the health of New Zealanders.

The key roles of the NZMA are:

  • to provide advocacy on behalf of doctors and their patients
  • to provide support and services to members and their practices
  • to publish and maintain the Code of Ethics for the profession
  • to publish the New Zealand Medical Journal

The NZMA's Doctors-in-Training Council was established in 2002 to provide support and representation to the NZMA's RMO, trainee intern, and medical student members, who are the future of the medical profession. The DITC contributes to NZMA advocacy on a wide variety of issues, particularly government policies (such as workforce). Visit our website: http://www.nzma.org.nz/about/DITC.html
